Ruffolo - Chairman, CEO and President Mike Ruffolo is the Chairman, CEO and President of Liquid Machines, the leading provider of Enterprise Rights Management (ERM) solutions that prevent the misuse, modification, loss or theft of intellectual property and sensitive information. Mike’s career spans more than 25 years of experience in global sales and marketing management, professional services, operations and information technology. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Akamai Technologies, he successfully refocused the company on the enterprise and government markets, driving double-digit revenue growth while dramatically improving operating results. Prior to Akamai, Mike was Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Services and Marketing at EMC Corporation where he drove over $8.5 billion in revenue. In addition, Mike was President of the Document Solutions Group at Xerox Corporation, in which he had worldwide operational and profit responsibility for the group delivering annual revenues of more than $3 billion. Before joining Xerox, Mike was Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at NCR Corporation.
Mike has been an independent Director on both public and private company Boards and currently serves on the Board of Pomeroy IT Solutions (Nasdaq: PMRY) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also an Advisory Board member at Virtusa in Westboro, and the CIO Group in New York.
Mike graduated summa cum laude from the University of Dayton, earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and has completed the Advanced Management Programme at the European Institute of International Business (INSEAD).
Mike Smith – Co-founder and Director Mike is the Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. He holds numerous patents and has published widely referenced papers in the areas of dynamic binary modification, machine-specific and profile-driven compilation, high-performance computer architecture, and practical applications of computer security.
Prior to Harvard, Mike spent several years at Honeywell Information Systems designing VLSI chips. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from WPI, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Princeton University. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM professional societies.
Axel Bichara - Director
Between 1997 and 1999 Axel spent 18 months in Munich to build up Atlas Venture's German activities. A German citizen, Axel holds an MBA from INSEAD, a Master of Science degree from MIT and a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from Technical University in Berlin.
Axel also serves on the boards of Bluespec, Inc., Marathon Technologies, NaviMedix, Inc., Open Ratings, Inc., and Salu, Inc.
Dr. Renato A. DiPentima - Director Renny DiPentima served as president and chief executive officer of SRA International (NYSE: SRX) from January 2005 through March 2007. Prior to assuming this position, he served as president and chief operating officer. He was initially an SRA vice president and chief information officer (CIO). During DiPentima's tenure at SRA, he helped the company grow from $135 million in revenue to $1.2 billion.
Prior to joining SRA in 1995, DiPentima was deputy commissioner for systems at the Social Security Administration (SSA). He chaired the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Improvement team as part of the President's National Performance Review initiatives and the Industry Advisory Council's CIO task force.
DiPentima and SRA Founder and Chairman Ernst Volgenau received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2006 Master Award. Also in 2006, DiPentima received the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the federal information technology community. DiPentima has also received two presidential rank awards (distinguished and meritorious service).
Jon Hirschtick - Director
Jon's career in mechanical engineering and CAD spans 20 years. Prior to SolidWorks, Jon was founder and president of the mechanical computer aided engineering pioneer, Premise, Inc. Prior to founding Premise, Jon was the manager of the CAD laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Jon has bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT.
Richard W. Levandov – Director
From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Levandov was an affiliate partner with SOFTBANK Technology Ventures. While at SOFTBANK, he led investments in several companies, including Personalogic (acquired by AOL) and Art Technology Group (ARTG). From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Levandov served as Vice President of Business Development at America Online. From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Levandov was a co-founder and Vice President of Phoenix Technologies, Ltd., a personal computer systems software company that went public in 1988. He was lead investor and served on the boards of Valent Software Corporation (acquired by Lycos), Sombasa Media (acquired by PrimeMedia), Software.com (acquired by OpenWave), Mobilee (acquired by Natural MicroSystems) and OLiVER (acquired by LivePicture).
Mr. Levandov holds a B.S. degree from Binghamton University. He is also a Director of Nexaweb, another Masthead portfolio company.
Will Porteous - Director Mr. Porteous is a General Partner with RRE Ventures. Before joining the venture capital industry, Mr. Porteous held senior management positions in marketing and product management with SupplyWorks and NetMarket, the e-commerce pioneer now owned by Cendant Corp. Mr. Porteous is a Director of Coldwatt, Data Robotics, Electric Cloud, NTM, Skyhook Wireless and Softcoin and a former Director of Frictionless Commerce (acquired by SAP) and Tacit Networks (acquired by PKTR). In addition, he is actively involved in the firm’s investment in PrimeRevenue. He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School and as Chairman of the Dockery Farms Foundation which he founded. Mr. Porteous holds an MBA from Harvard University, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA with Honors from Stanford University where he served as Captain of the Varsity Crew. Vivian Schneck-Last - Board Observer - Goldman Sachs Vivian is a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where she manages the Office of the CIO. She is responsible for capitalizing on the knowledge and expertise that exists within Goldman Sachs' Technology Division for the benefit of the firm’s top tier clients and business units across the firm, most notably through, but not limited to, the Goldman Sachs CIO Series. By partnering across Merchant and Investment Banking, Vivian facilitates key client relationships and advises on strategic investments. Vivian serves on the boards of a number of portfolio companies on behalf of Goldman Sachs. Vivian joined Goldman Sachs in 1985 and was promoted to vice president in 1989. In 1993 she was awarded the prestigous Doty Fellowship and in 2003 Vivian was named managing director. During her tenure, she has held several leadership positions within the Technology Division, with extensive work in distributed data architectures. Vivian earned an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. in Math & Computer Science from Touro College. |
