The Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and NYSE's Listed Company Manual, among others, feature regulations requiring companies to take proactive steps in protecting their proprietary information.
