Liquid Machines Gateway for SharePointThe Liquid Machines Gateway for SharePoint extends Microsoft Information Rights Management (IRM) to hundreds of file formats and enables multi-user collaboration on a single protected document without having to check files back into SharePoint.
Extending automatic rights management protection to hundreds of file formats including Office, Adobe PDF, graphics files and more
Liquid Machines automatically encrypts and applies usage permissions to hundreds of file formats when they are downloaded or checked out of SharePoint. When used in conjunction with the Liquid Machines client, files are persistently protected in their native applications such as Adobe Reader (PDF), Microsoft Office, and Visio, even during copy/paste, save as and print operations. When combined with the Liquid Machines Viewer, the Gateway for SharePoint extends automatic protection of files to hundreds of additional formats including those created by graphics, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Support SharePoint governance best practices and collaborate on protected documents
Maintain your collaborative environment and get the most from your Microsoft investment by extending the access controls and permissions that have already been defined for library members in SharePoint to files that are checked out and used locally.
The Liquid Machines Gateway for SharePoint supports governance best practices by including different types of users (Owners, Members, Visitors, etc.) with different sets of permissions (Full Control, Contribute, Read Only, etc.) in the custom RMS policy that protects downloaded files. All permission settings are defined within SharePoint, making administration easy.
With a policy that takes multiple users into consideration, existing workflows are maintained and safe collaboration is supported among different groups without compromising the protections applied to sensitive information or requiring files to be checked back in.
How the Gateway for SharePoint Works
An administrator assigns SharePoint and IRM permissions to users and groups (see figure 1). Documents checked out of that library are automatically protected by the Gateway for SharePoint with a policy that includes all authorized library members.
Authorized users, even those outside of the network, can collaborate on the protected document without returning it to the library. Different users can have different usage rights based on their SharePoint permissions. If an unauthorized user obtains a copy, they are prevented from opening it.
When the document is checked back in, the Gateway decrypts the file to maintain indexing and search capabilities within SharePoint. |
